Edinburgh Riding of the Marches, An Ancient Tradition

Scotland, located in the northern part of Great Britain, boasts a fascinating history, magnificent castles and extraordinary landscapes.  Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, enchanting its visitors with an impressive architecture and world-class museums.  The Royal Mile runs through the Old Town of Edinburgh, connecting the Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.  During our visit, Edinburgh Riding of the Marches takes place in the city, a reenactment of the historic custom of inspecting the city’s boundaries on horseback.  A grand parade, watched by many spectators, comprises decorated horses and riders traversing the Royal Mile.
