Mimosa Pudica, The Sensitive Plant Responding to Touch

Cycling through the countryside of Central Vietnam, we observe picturesque rice fields, iconic trees, colorful flowers and beautiful plants.  Mimosa Pudica is a flowering plant, native to the South and Central America but also found in Southeast Asia.  Mimosa Pudica, also called sensitive plant, has sensitive leaflets that fold inward when stimulated by touching and shaking.  The plant’s leaflets automatically fold inward at night and when they are exposed to excessive heat and rain.  Mimosa Pudica is an interesting hypersensitive tropical plant.
