Tapestry Rug, Poland; Woolen Kilim Adorned with Flower Motif

Poland, Tapestry Rug

The tradition of making tapestry rugs is omnipresent in Poland.  The weaving techniques and textile patters reflect the vibrant and unique local culture.  Artisan collectives and individual artists exhibit and sell their work at seasonal markets across the country.  Spółdzielnia Koronka-Bobowa, a cooperative of artists in Poland, creates traditional handmade tapestries, laces, tablecloths and kilim bedspreads.  Our featured tapestry-woven rug is handmade with white-grey wool and adorned with a red-orange flower motif.  A tapestry rug, also called kilim, is an essential décor item in many European houses, either displayed on a wall or placed on the floor.  Measures: tapestry rug (length 41 inches, width 16 1/2 inches).
