Antarctic Glaciers and Pristine Wilderness of Antarctic Peninsula

Antarctic Glaciers, Lemaire Channel

Antarctica is an ice-bound continent, situated in the Southern Hemisphere in the Antarctic Region.  During the Antarctic Summer from December to March, the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands to the north of the Antarctic Peninsula, are a dream cruise destination.  Our selected cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula is an incredible journey along a dramatic scenery of rugged coastlines, peaceful bays, enormous glaciers and massive icebergs.  The Antarctic Peninsula is wild, remote and beautiful, boasting exceptional natural scenery and impressive variety of rare wildlife.

Antarctica Cruise

Antarctica is an extraordinary natural reserve with unparalleled scenery and diverse wildlife.  In the northern part of Antarctica, the Antarctic Peninsula is a long mountain chain that is 1,000 kilometers south of Tierra del Fuego Archipelago, the southernmost part of South America.  During the Antarctic Summer from December to March, the Antarctic Peninsula and the South Shetland Islands to the north of the Antarctic Peninsula, are a dream cruise destination.  Our selected cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula is an incredible journey along a dramatic scenery of enormous glaciers and massive icebergs.  We select the National Geographic Orion, a luxury cruise ship, to explore the frozen continent of Antarctica.  The ice-class vessel Orion, equipped with the latest technology, can maneuver along the challenging polar ice.  The vessel is equipped with Zodiac boats, ensuring smooth landings to explore the mountainous terrain and impressive ice sheets.  The vessel’s sun deck is a perfect place to appreciate the dramatic scenery of the Antarctic Peninsula.

Antarctic Glaciers

Antarctic Peninsula experiences large variations in climate and weather.  A heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures occur during our exploration of enormous glacier at Brialmont Cove.  Our vessel positioned astonishingly close to massive glacier, offers amazing views of the crevasses, fissures and ice caves.  From time to time, pieces of the glacier collapse into the ocean.  Despite extreme climate conditions, nature-loving enthusiasts can encounter a wide variety of wildlife and have wonderful adventures.  We enjoy a morning excursion in the Zodiac boats to Hidden Bay at False Cape Renard.  The sky is blue and the ocean waters are calm as we cruise along the mountainous topography, enormous glacier wall and the naturally colored icebergs.  We observe a seal hiding in the iceberg’s crevasses and penguins resting on the snow-covered cliffs.

Lemaire Channel

A beautiful sunset and clear sky create a magical scenery in the Antarctic Peninsula.  We cruise through the Lemaire Channel, a beautiful 11-kilometer-long passage surrounded by mountain peaks, snow-covered cliffs and magnificent glaciers.  Traversing the Lemaire Channel at midnight is an unforgettable experience.  The vivid colors are reflected across the snow-covered mountains.  The brightly illuminated glaciers are reflected in the icy ocean waters.  We appreciate the beauty of stillness, the flowing waters and the sound of silence.   We experience a magical night with spectacular scenery in the remote wilderness of the Antarctic Peninsula.
